Questions

Including the awkward ones about ownership, cost and what happens if things go wrong.

General

Do you work with clients outside Rajasthan?

Yes — across India and internationally. Collaboration runs over video calls, WhatsApp and shared project tracking. We also take contract work through Freelancer.com and Upwork.

Who actually builds the software?

AstraSoft is a small, founder-led studio in Barmer, Rajasthan. You deal directly with the engineer building your project — there is no account manager relaying messages. The trade-off is that we take on fewer projects at a time, and we will say so if we cannot start when you need.

Building it

How long does it take?

A business website is typically one to two weeks. A mobile app or a web application is usually four to twelve weeks depending on how many features and integrations it needs. We give a milestone schedule before starting, not just an end date.

What technology do you build on?

Next.js and React on the web, Flutter for mobile, FastAPI and Python on the backend, PostgreSQL for data. For AI work we use OpenRouter or run models on our own hardware when data should not leave the country. All of it is mainstream and well-supported, so you are never dependent on something obscure.

Can the software be in Hindi?

Yes, and we would usually recommend it. Several of our products ship with Hindi interfaces as the default, because software your staff cannot read is software your staff will not use. This website runs in both languages for the same reason.

Will our app be on the Play Store?

Yes — submission and the review process are part of the work, including the privacy policy and data-deletion pages Google requires. Approval timing is Google's to decide, not ours, and we will tell you honestly where an app stands rather than describing a closed test as a public launch.

AI

Can you add AI to something we already have?

Usually yes, if it has an API or a database we can read. The more useful question is whether AI is the right answer — often a clear report or an automated alert solves the problem better and costs nothing per use. We will tell you if that is the case.

If we use AI, where does our data go?

That is a choice we make deliberately with you. It can go to a commercial model provider, or it can stay entirely on hardware we control if the data is sensitive. We write down which one applies before any integration is built, and the answer goes in your documentation.

Commercial

What does a website and app cost?

The Launch Package is ₹25,000 one-time and covers a website, an Android app and Google Business Profile setup. From the second month onward it is ₹1,000 per month for server and maintenance. Backups, extra storage and third-party integrations are charged separately because they scale with usage. These are indicative figures — your exact pricing is confirmed in the offer letter.

Who owns the software once it is built?

You do. For custom builds the source code is handed over, and you are not locked into us for hosting or future changes. If you later want to move to another developer or your own server, that is a transfer, not a rebuild.

After launch

What happens after launch?

The monthly server and maintenance plan covers hosting, security updates, uptime monitoring and small content changes. Larger new features are quoted separately. You will always know which bucket a request falls into before work starts.

Are backups included?

Backups are charged separately, and we would rather be straightforward about why: a backup that has never been restored is not a backup. What we provide is off-site copies plus periodic restore testing, and that capacity costs real money. It is priced by how much data you hold and how far back you need to go.
